NGA MAHI PONO MO NGA WHAKAARO A IWI

  • We now request copies of monitoring reports as a result of approved resource consents in our area of interest
  • We have asked that councils provide us with copies of any environmental research undertaken on our waterways and other environmental matters
  • We will not support any Developer or private sector resource consent application without all information in front of us
  • We have recommended that tourism permits concerning marine mammals exclude species where research proves a decline in our coastal area; permits include a review period; cultural impact assessments to include Waitaha cultural values and impact on marine life
  • Councils and DOC provide an annual brief on the state of environmental health for reporting back to our iwi through the AGM
  •   While these are a few examples, among other things we have much more work to do to further strengthen our position with Transit NZ, local bodies and insist those with regulatory obligations MUST educate themselves on Waitaha Treaty Claims Act 2013.  and DOS. We will keep you posted…  ]]>
