TE KAPU O WAITAHA ELECTION NOMINATIONS

Nominee Profiles received for Te Kapu O Waitaha triennial elections are listed below. 

Elections will open for voting on September 21st 2017.  All beneficiaries are encouraged to notify the Trust if you wish to check that your record details are correct for mailing.  We would also ask that if any whanau members have recently passed away that you check with us to ensure we were notified and their registration record updated.

Congratulations to all nominees, and we thank whanau for your participation in the election.

Wehi Clarke has been nominated to stand for re-election for Te Kapu O Waitaha Board. Wehi is also a Trustee on the Waitaha Charitable Trust responsible for Grant distributions for the past 3 years. Wehi works at the Port of Tauranga, lives locally and has raised his family both at home and abroad. Wehi is proactive in iwi affairs including the community where he is also the Chair of the Rangiuru Sports Club. Wehi maintains a keen focus on increasing greater choice and options for beneficiaries and mokopuna of Waitaha.

Tapua Te Amo is currently a Trustee member of Te Kapu o Waitaha and Waitaha Charitable Trust and has been nominated for re-election. As a koeke on the Board, Tapua is also a member of the Whakapapa komiti, in addition to a role on the Property sub-committee. Tapua also provides cultural support in the health sector, participates on the Pae Tapu for Hei Marae, and actively helps the younger generation in their quest for developing themselves culturally. Tapua holds confidence in that tikanga is the key principle for the management of building better futures for Waitaha whanau, hapu, and iwi.

Retimana Te Moni is dedicated to seeking what is best for the iwi as a whole, and is looking to keep tikanga at the forefront of all discussions. He also promotes the importance that whanau views be considered equally. Retimana has lived on Manoeka Road, Te Puke for over 45 years, and has been employed within local Health Services for over 20 years as a Drug & Alcohol Counsellor, Mental Health and Social Worker. He is also the Chairman of the Wharepouri Te Moni Ahuwhenua Trust committee, set up to assist in the succession and dissemination of the whanau land. Retimana has also served on the Board of Trustees at the Te Puke High School. The time spent in serving the community and iwi has been a genuine honour and hopes to continue to do so on this Board.

Solomon October resides in Mangere East Auckland on YWAM Missionary base and works for a construction company in South Auckland building industry.

Solomon’s decision for standing for Te Kapu O Waitaha election stems from a desire to represent iwi whanau, offering a fresh voice and an authentic perspective. Solomon will bring to the Board support to fulfil the obligations and objectives, and would like to add positive momentum for sustainable change.
