Nga take o te putaiao

Bay of Plenty Regional Council

  • TKOW will present Waitaha Iwi Management plan at the Komiti Māori hui on Wednesday 5 August at Waikari Marae, Matapihi
Te Arawa Partnership Forum
  • This is a new forum external to Western Bay of Plenty District Council.  Maru Tapsell and Tapua Te Amo will represent Waitaha interests.
Resource consent applications
  • We are seeking data from the Regional council regarding a resource renewal for a local mill.  Noted are limitations of contaminants which exceeded the previous resource consent into the Ohineangaanga stream.  Unless satisfactory measures are in place with demonstrated solutions, this will be assessed as culturally unacceptable, and as such, the renewal will be opposed
Earthworks protocols We have recently reaffirmed earthworks protocols for Waitaha monitoring following discussions with nga koeke and Craig Watson (Waitaha earthworks monitor).  These protocols will be integrated into agreements between Waitaha and council, developers, and iwi stakeholders (where there is a shared area of interest) Pāpāmoa Comprehensive Storm water Resource Consent
  • We will be meeting with Tauranga City Council Friday 17th, following the Papamoa comprehensive storm water workshop attended last week.  We will determine risks and mitigation to their application for resource consent variation to the Regional Council. Our priority are the impacts on the Wairakei, and Kaituna
