VACANCY – Waitaha Hauora

Waitaha Hauora are seeking a Whanau Support Kaimahi (Community Health Worker) to join our team The position is Permanent 20 Hours per week servicing the Te Puke area including Papamoa East and responsible to Te Manu Toroa Mental Health Team Leader and Waitaha Hauora Governance Board A community based service that provides support, education, information and advocacy to the whānau and family of Kaupapa Māori Mental Health service users at the place they prefer. The service will be based within a Kaupapa Māori framework and responsive to the needs of tāngata mauiui and their whānau. The ideal applicant’s personal attributes and skills should aim to include:

  • Meeting the Police Vetting requirements
  • A positive role model for other whānau
  • Experience in working with whānau in the community
  • Ability to keep accurate and up to date records
  • Level 3 Computing Skills and familiarity with office programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Patient Management Systems would be advantageous
  • A qualification in Hauora Maori or Community Services would be advantageous
  • Current clean full driver’s licence
  • An understanding of the Health and Disabilities Act would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of Te Reo and Tikanga would be advantageous
  • Ability to engage and build a positive, professional rapport with whānau, rangatahi and tamariki in the prescribed geographical area.
  • Ability to engage and build a positive, professional rapport with Schools, Community Agencies, other Hauora and Social Service providers and Government Departments in the prescribed geographical area.
