Scholarship Recipients

What we fund

Tertiary Undergraduate Programmes of Study

If you are about to undertake a full time study programme toward an Undergraduate Degree at a recognised tertiary institution, then this scholarship may be for you.  The Hakaraia Education Endowment will fund course related costs, and course fees.


Tertiary Trade Apprenticeships

If you are about to undertake a full time Trade Apprenticeship, the Hakaraia Education Endowment will fund, course related costs which includes trade tools and course fees.


Waitaha Partnership Tertiary Scholarships

If you have completed year 12, are in the process of completing year 13, thinking of studying toward an Undergraduate Degree next year, and seek financial support for Halls of Residence and more; then the below scholarships maybe of interest to you.


Discretionary Grant

The Discretionary Grant is funded through the Hakaraia Education Endowment Fund to support education and learning programmes that contribute to the revitalisation of Waitaha culture, reo and tikanga.



Important Information

Accountability for Scholarships & Grants

All scholarship and grant recipients must return an
Accountability Form when due

Awarding of Scholarships & Grants

Unless notified, ALL scholarship and grants will be awarded in person at a Waitaha Scholarship 1 day event, usually held at Hei Marae, Te Puke. This is compulsory.

We Do Not Fund

  • Projects or services that do not meet charitable criteria
  • Commercial and non-charitable organisations
  • Purposes where local, central or other agencies would be the natural source of funding
  • Retrospective projects (i.e completed programmes that have already commenced or ended)
  • Groups where the applicants that do not meet the Waitaha registration criteria
  • Individuals/programmes seeking sponsorship & recreation purposes
