Waitaha Tertiary Partnership Scholarships

    Scholarship

    The University of Waikato and Waitaha Charitable Trust entered into a partnership agreement in May 2018, as part of a mutual commitment to build a long-term relationship and to support the academic success for School leavers of Waitaha descent. Jointly funded by the University of Waikato and Waitaha Charitable Trust, two scholarships of $14,500 will be awarded each year.  This is a contestable Scholarship.

    Purpose

    Each Scholarship will have a tenure of one year and is for the purpose of:

    • Fully funded cost of accommodation in the Halls of residence
    • an Annual UniRec gym membership
    • $500 toward course related costs for the first year of study.

    In addition to criteria, applications will also be considered based on the commitment to succeed at the University, final year secondary school attendance record and character references.

  • Waitaha-A-Hei & Victoria University of Wellington

    Scholarship

    The agreement between the University and Waitaha Charitable Trust is designed to provide the opportunity for two School leavers of Waitaha descent to gain an Undergraduate degree from the University through a combined Scholarship contribution.  The scholarship value will be made up of; a contribution from the Otago Entrance Scholarship of $10,000 and a $7,000 contribution from the Waitaha Charitable Trust.  The combined value is $17,000 for each of the two scholarships. This is a contestable Scholarship.

    Purpose

    Each Scholarship will have a tenure of one year and is for the purpose of:

    • fully funded accommodation in one of the University Halls of Residence
    • $500 towards course related costs

    In addition to criteria, applications will also be considered based on the commitment to succeed at the University, final year secondary school attendance record and character references.

  • Waitaha-A-Hei & University of Otago

    Scholarship

    The agreement between the University and Waitaha Charitable Trust is designed to provide the opportunity for two School leavers of Waitaha descent to gain an Undergraduate degree from the University through a combined Scholarship contribution.  The scholarship value will be made up of; a contribution from the Otago Entrance Scholarship of $10,000 and a $7,000 contribution from the Waitaha Charitable Trust.  The combined value is $17,000 for each of the two scholarships. This is a contestable Scholarship.

    Purpose

    Each Scholarship will have a tenure of one year and is for the purpose of:

    • fully funded accommodation in one of the University Halls of Residence
    • $1,200 towards approved travel costs home (where applicable)
    • $500 towards course related costs

    In addition to criteria, applications will also be considered based on the commitment to succeed at the University, final year secondary school attendance record and character references.
