Waitaha Tertiary Partnership Scholarships

  • Waitaha-A-Hei & University of Waikato Scholarship

    The University of Waikato and Waitaha Charitable Trust entered into a partnership agreement in November 2020, as part of a mutual commitment to build a long-term relationship and to support the academic success for Waitaha-A-Hei descendants. Jointly funded by the University of Waikato and Waitaha Charitable Trust. 

    This scholarship is for students who are a registered beneficiaries with Te Kapu o Waitaha and are either enrolled or intending to enrol full-time at the University of Waikato in any level of study in the year of tenure.

  • Waitaha-A-Hei Victoria University of Wellington

    Scholarship

    The agreement between the University and Waitaha Charitable Trust is designed to provide the opportunity for one school leaver of Waitaha descent to gain an Undergraduate degree from the University through a combined Scholarship contribution.  The scholarship is for one Waitaha recipient. This is a contestable Scholarship. Purpose Each Scholarship will have a tenure of one year and is for the purpose of:

    • fully funded accommodation in one of the University Halls of Residence
    • $500 bonus cash

    In addition to criteria, applications will also be considered based on the commitment to succeed at the University, final year secondary school attendance record and character references.

  • Waitaha-A-Hei & University of Otago

    Scholarship

    The agreement between the University and Waitaha Charitable Trust is designed to provide the opportunity for one School leaver of Waitaha descent to gain an Undergraduate degree from the University through a combined Scholarship contribution.  The scholarship value will be made up of; a contribution from the Otago Entrance Scholarship of $10,000 and a $7,000 contribution from the Waitaha Charitable Trust.  The combined value is $17,000 for this scholarship. This is a contestable Scholarship. Purpose The Scholarship will have a tenure of one year and is for the purpose of:

    • fully funded accommodation in one of the University Halls of Residence
    • $1,200 towards approved travel costs home (where applicable)
    • $500 towards course related costs

    In addition to criteria, applications will also be considered based on the commitment to succeed at the University, final year secondary school attendance record and character references.
